Greetings to all!

Christmas for the Troops 2008

If you are involved with any size group, such as Sunday School classes, adult groups, civic organizations, or any businesses that would like to help with this project, it would be greatly appreciated. We are asking for 1-gallon Ziploc bags filled with candy, snacks, food, notes, or anything nonperishable and non-liquid. Toiletry items should be bagged separately from food items. You can also put e-mail addresses and return addresses of adults in the bags so that you may receive responses from the troops you have helped.

We are trying to collect 40,000 stuffed bags so that we can send them out to our troops as Christmas gifts. In order for the bags to arrive on time with the holiday mail, we must have them no later than the end of October to send out to the chaplains at the different bases. The chaplains will distribute them at the appropriate time.  Believe me, nothing says, ‘we love you and our prayers are with you’ like a goodie bag at Christmas time from someone you don't know who is all the way back home.

Last year we were able to ship 25,000 gallon bags over to 11 bases in forward deployed areas. The chaplains loaded them in Humvees Christmas Eve and delivered them to each and every one of our troops. The overwhelming response from the chaplains was “that was the best Christmas they had ever had when they were deployed for both themselves and our troops”.

I would be happy to come and speak to any groups interested in participating. Please remember that we must have all the bags in house by the end of October to get them shipped out in time.

Thanks so much for all of your help and support!

 Hey everybody!

I am so excited that I am finally getting my non-profit off of the ground. Many of you are familiar with Marc's last letter home which inspired me to start America's Mighty Warrior's in his honor. Marc, means Mighty Warrior and that he was.

I need help with the funding for the start up costs and operating expenses. Before Marc died I was a very successful Tupperware Manager. After Marc's death my passions changed and I am gone so much that I haven't been active as a consultant. I have kept my status current and as I was contemplating how to get the start up costs for America's Mighty Warrior's the thought occurred that I could have a huge on-line party and use all of my profits to help with the start up costs.

It's a double benefit for you, a great product with a lifetime warranty and the blessing of knowing you are contributing to honoring and remembering a hero who gave it all for you and me.

If you go to www.my2.tupperware.com/debbiesuelee and click on start your on-line party in the top right corner, then on join an existing party, then party name, America's Mighty Warrior's, then begin shopping.

Please feel free to share this invitation with everyone you know.

Thank you,

Debbie Lee

Operation Santa

The 4th annual Operation Santa is currently underway. Last Christmas, thanks to thousands of good Americans, over 23,000 homemade stockings filled with goodies were shipped to our deployed men and women serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Teamwork such as this has allowed Operation Santa to become the largest Christmas drive for the troops in the Midwest/USA!

This year the goal is 30,000. Santa’s elves have been busy for months sewing stockings.  Here are a few ways you can help:

*Sew stockings (pattern can be downloaded from website or mailed to you)

* Items collected which will go into the stockings (list can be found on website)

* Cards/letters of support penned as one will go in each stocking

* Cash donations to offset shipping. Our budget is $150,000.00.

All gifts are tax deductible, checks can be made out to

Proud Families, P O Box 10565, Peoria, IL 61612.

School children, Sunday school classes, businesses, civic and Veterans organizations are all encouraged to participate!

Operation Santa is sponsored by Central Illinois Proud Families of Marines which is a 501c3, not for profit organization and has received the Lt. Gov.’s Homefront Hero Award.

For her efforts, organizer Patti Smith was recently presented with the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ Quality Citizen Recognition award along with his Challenge Coin, an award normally reserved for dignitaries and Congressmen.

It may seem early but a project of this magnitude takes planning for a full year prior. The deadline is November 1, 2008 after which time shipping will begin. This ensures timely arrival for our troops.

The stockings will go to all branches of our Armed Forces as well as to Combat Support Hospitals in theatre. Many thank you notes and pictures of troops were received from Operation Santa 2007 and be viewed on the website.

What makes the success of Operation Santa incredible is the fact that it’s a grass roots effort. It’s strictly a volunteer effort with no paid staff nor is it backed by any celebrity or major corporation. Just good Americans who understand stepping up the plate when there’s a need.

It started with a Marine mom who wanted to give Christmas to her son and his buddies serving in Iraq. At the time, she worried about finding enough resources to send 40 packages to outfit his platoon. Now just three short years later, thousands have caught the vision to bring a slice of home to our fellow Americans fighting for freedom to the tune of 30,000!!

Please help us spread the word.  Let’s send a message of patriotism, love and hope to our Beloved troops serving in harm’s way this holiday…………..until they all come home!!

God bless America! Home of the free because of the brave!!!
