Greetings Family Members and
Loved Ones!
It is election time in
the US, and this always seems
to be a time of trepidation,
anxiety and concern for many
Americans. I have witnessed the agitation in the reports on
the stability of the market,
foreclosures on homes, the
price of oil and even the stories
of heightened prices of groceries
at home. There seems to
be a lot riding on the election
this year; but this is no different
than any election we have
experienced in recent history.
What is sometimes
difficult in the midst of uncertain
times is to turn toward the
One who can offer us peace in
during the chaos. I do not
presume to know the level of
frustration you have with the
current market situation, nor I
presume to know your ongoing
agitation with fuel prices each
time you stop at the pumps,
but what I do know is there is
comfort to be had in this economic
crisis. Yet there are few
who seem to know where this comfort can be found. I haven't heard a news commentator
on FOX or CNN suggest that
we pray about the financial
crisis in the States. Yet this
very act of committing our lives to God through
prayer is the very
thing that will give
us a sense of calm
through the storm.
There were many
moments throughout King
David's rule over Israel, where
he found himself or his country
in a world of hurt. They were
assailed on all sides by physical
forces and even spiritual forces
that sought to tear apart the
fiber of the country and king's
morale. What David did right
every time he was confronted
with uncertainty, frustration,
anger, despair, grief, and loss
was to put those cares and
emotions at the feet of the
Almighty.
In Psalm 31 we read David's words of solace to us:"But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, 'My times are in your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies and persecutors. Let your face shine upon your servant, save me in your steadfast love. Do not let me be put to shame O, Lord, for I call on You."
We call on the Lord
here a lot. We ask that God
protect us as we go out on
missions, we ask that God give
us his courage and strength, we
ask that God send His Spirit toguide us each day What use is
it if we only call on the Lord
when we are in places such as
Iraq? David models a LIFE
depended upon the Lord andnot
just a moment. I encourage
each of you to focus your
prayer life on the Lord and He
will give you comfort when and
where the world cannot.
God Bless you all!!
